Been speaking to my vet this morning about Caspers latest blood test results not too good I'm afraid

They were sent to the lab, then the results from the lab sent to the rabbit specialist (John Chitty) for his opinion. Some blood was found in his gut so he now has to go one Ranitidine for this and kidney levels not good John thinks he has kidney disease (failure) so he has prescribed Fortekor tablets for this, he is also to continue with the Metacam and the Septrin, have to pick up the new meds tonight and start straight away.

I have a check with the vet for Casper in about a week and a half to discuss further, my vet wants him to have more blood tests a few weeks after this to see if the meds are working, and then some more Xrays a few weeks after this to check on the condition of his lungs and kidneys.

These are not the results I was hoping for obviously

On the other hand since removing the straw from all the hutches Casper has been better in himself and is no longer snuffling/snorting, he is also now eating the new respiratory Cunipic food, and I may also put him on the Cunipic Renal diet too for his kidneys, all the time I can keep him well, happy & eating I will soldier on with all the treatments

I've picked up the meds for him this evening and spoken with one of the nurses, I questioned the blood in his gut issue the vet was talkng to me about, they don't know if he has actually been bleeding in his gut, but the bloods show he was dehydrated which could be a sign of bleeding in the gut, hence the ranitidine, but on the other hand he may not have drunk much that day and he probably wouldn't drink at the vets anyway, so they have prescribed the ranitidine in case, it's quite a large dose of 1.5mls twice a day, good job it tastes nice can't say I'm particularly looking forward to crushing up half a tablet of fortekor and mixing it with water or fruit juice though, good job thats only once a day!

I hope he remains bright, and it was just a case of him not drinking enough that day x
