Casper - sad news

I'm glad Casper's doing ok, and getting lots of tlc from Daisy.

Casper was back to the vet last night for a check up and to get his blood test results.

Good news the kidney levels that were high have now gone down so vet says he doesn't have kidney failure which is what I was most worried about.

His eye is better too vet says as Uveitis has a habbit of being difficult to get rid of and is prone to coming back, he wants the steroid eyedrops to continue but slowly wean him off so he has now finished Metacam completely and I have to drop the eyedrops down to twice a day from 3 times a day for 2 weeks, then once a day for 2 weeks, then stop for 2 weeks and he goes back for a check up in 6 weeks. We may possibly decide to do further blood tests at this point when he has been off all medication for 2 weeks, but we may not bother I'll let my vet make that call though, as the last blood test they couldn't complete all the tests as the blood had started to clot. Just relieved the results I was waiting for on the kidneys were better

Vet still thinks he had EC even though we weren't able to prove this with the blood tests.

Unfortunately Casper is not well again at the moment he was doing well and been off all medication for only 1 week before he started behaving strangely and refusing to eat his pellets Took him to the vet yesterday and he says he has stasis but not sure why he said he is worried about the EC and his kidneys so he is back on meds again today he spent the day at the vets and they took more bloods to test his kidney function

So he is now having a heat pad and whatever he wants to eat so have to keep picking dandelions, hawthorn, cow parsnip, my herbs in pots and bramble leaves as he won't even eat his usual banana treat at the moment as he is such a nervous boy vet doesn't want him syringe fed unless he stops eating the greens so he doesn't get stressed, he did eat quite a pile of greens when I bought him home this evening though

I'm sorry to hear Casper is poorly again and off his food . I do hope he will pick up soon.
