Advice please, reduced eating, small poo, swollen tummy.

Please feel free to ask advice on health issues, but remember, this is not a substitute for taking your rabbit to the vets if it is sick.

Advice please, reduced eating, small poo, swollen tummy.

Post by kermit »

Ok, so I had noticed that Inca had not been as keen for her food over the past couple of days. She is still eating it, but just eating it slower, so I thought.....teeth. So I have an appointment at the vets tomorrow afternoon.

Then tonight when I came home, she ate some veg, but not as much as she would. I was looking in beside the litter tray, where she usually poos (yip, outside the tray!) and noticed some really small hard poos, very black. Then I noticed that her tummy seemed a bit swollen, I lifted her up to have a feel about and she proceeded to pee all over me, but this pee was like she had been holding it in all day. Then when I feel her tummy she tenses it like it is a bit sore. Now I am thinking....kidneys? Just cos she is on long term Metacam?

Any ideas people? Will obv. be going to the vets anyways.

She is eating hay just now and I have gave her some fibreplex and some protexin pellets to maybe help her tummy.

Oh, and the hay that I just got recently is different to the usual stuff....could that he anything to do with it??

No advice, I'm afraid, but hope you can get it sorted quickly.

My Boys get smaller harder poops and a bit of tummy ache when they are moulting, but I'm guessing you would know her moult routine by now anyway.

Wouldn't think the hay would have that kind of effect....

It could be changing hay but more likely an infection cystitis perhaps. Hope you get on ok at thev vets.

Yeah, that's what Jane suggested over on RU. Hope it is something that can get treated and nothing too major! :-s :-s

She ate most of her breakfast, but did eat it slower than usual so meant that Herbie got the Lions share (apt as he is a Lionhead :))). Not very many poos overnight :(

Will let you all know how I get on later, appointment is at 3.30pm.
