Thanks Apache- Coco 's lump on his back turned out to be an abscess.
Coco had local anaesthetic as pus was needle aspirated from the abscess and the area shaved and both horizontal and vertical incisions made to open up the abscess and remove the pus. As Coco is already on antibiotics and metacam anyway, hopefully it will heal after a week. I have to keep the wound open for 5 days to check to see if gentle squeezing will make any further pus come out, and the wound must be washed out daily with cooled bolied water. It does look very sore, poor old chap, but I mustn't put metanium or anything on it.
Hopefully he'll be better by next week

Coco doesn't seem to be bothered by the wound, as he's been grazing, and sunbathing in his usual spot today, so hopefully the metacam he's already on, is doing the trick
I do hope that it will heal with no further problems.
