Aw that's kind of your Mrs B :) Well done for easing the load for Alice. :-bd

I wish news of Alice taking in 14 or 15 bunnies this week shocked me :( but I know Alice takes on many that others are unable to. I saw her in the animal hospital a couple of days ago ..with 2 piggies 2 rabbits and a dog... and I know she just goes there for serious cases :( as it's a long way from her routine vets .
Alice is always cheerful and never fazed by it all... I take my hat off to her ^:)^

I just thought I would show you one of the rabbits that Alice has reserved for rehoming at the moment...
...but lots more beautiful buns there if anyone is interested. :) ...

Look at beautiful Sweetie! Trying to bond her with Michael.
She is such a wonderful rabbit, so hope it works.
A wonderful, loving home awaits if they get their act together!

I've offered to help Sal and Mrs Bunnykins with the updates at Windwhistle as they're all so busy at present.

Windwhistle Warren recently took on part of quite a sizeable rescue from Neath.

Sadly, many of the babies were killed by wild rats, and several others have nasty bite wounds which have become infected. This has resulted in 2 babies having leg amputations. The two remaining does were brought over on Friday, their litter(s) were sadly all dead in the nest. 6 of the babies from one of the other does came to Windwhistle but sadly under vet advice, 2 of the babies had to be pts as their wounds were too great.

This is a picture of one of the surviving 4 babies- a little Black bunny called Santi.

Image

Santi, the little black bun, has had his leg aspirated, so, he should feel more comfortable. As the injury is only in his knee joint, It is hoped he may not need an amputation. The leg will never work as normal, but the aim is to get him strong and happy.
Santi now has one of his other siblings to keep him company.
There was no room at Windwhistle Warren for all the babies, so some are kindly being fostered.
Alice says “This is a typical situation of wonderful people coming together to help. I always say, Windwhistle Warren relies on the kindness of those who keep oiling the wheels and put themselves out”.
I know Alice very much appreciates the donations from Pledge a Pound for the rescue bunnies at Windwhistle. :)

Santi is beautiful :x It's so nice to hear that people come together and help, but it's such a shame it has to happen in the first place :(

I hope he finds the loving and caring home all bunnies deserve :)

sdf76, many thanks for your update. Alice and her team of volunteers do a fantastic job, nothing is ever too much trouble where animals are concerned.

Later on in the year, I may see if I could go and have a busman's holiday with Alice. Stay nearby in a b and b and then spend my days helping her with the little ones. My idea of paradise.......I hope Alice would be happy for me to do this. :-? I think she would.

Today I went to Windwhistle Warren with Daisy taking some nut sticks and cleaning out a few bunnies. I met 2 of Alice's volunteers Liz and Alex which was nice and of course it was lovely to see Alice again.
Windwhistle is pretty full with rescue bunnies and piggies and There are also a few boarders in a separate purpose built part of the premises. The boarding helps to fund the rescue rabbits and rescue piggies and is super accommodation. You certainly have a very experienced caring person to look after them in Alice :) ...so if anyone needs their rabbits boarded don't hesitate to contact her. :) http://www.windwhistlewarren.org.uk

see Daisy's thread for the June update with photos of bunnies and piggies.

Even when Alice can't do a long bonding herself, she is always there for those who adopt from her to give them advice.

I love a happy ending!

Some rabbits really need stress less, and gentle patient bonding. Helen and Mark did not want to return Bramble to rescue. I was sure with time the bond would work. Bless them, they persevered and now have 2 happy bonded rabbits. Thank you to two wonderful bunny parents.

Unfortunately, in rescue, I just do not have the capacity to take on bondings which may take months to complete.

'We took your advice and kept them apart, but next to each other, and swapped them over every two days. About 3 weeks ago we started letting them have their breakfast pellets out of the same bowl (opened hutch door just enough for a head to get through) and then after about 10 days of that, we gave them a first date - that was in the new run which both of them had been in before. Oreo was a bit nervous of Bramble, but she came round fairly quickly. After about 5 days of dates of various lengths in both the run and also in the hutch/shed (not neutral but both of them had been in both) we decided to leave them together overnight (Tuesday just gone) and since then we've not split them up.

There has been no fur pulling and we'd now say Bramble is top rabbit, though he still enjoys grooming Oreo. She is no longer a little furry psycho and he is clearly delighted with her. Fingers crossed for a happy future! At least you can give them as an example of a pair of rabbits who fell out big-time, but now seem happy together - rather than tolerating each other which was the best we had before in between fights. Using the shed and hutch, which wasn't neutral, may have been slightly unorthodox but seems to have paid off.'

What's happening at Windwhistle Warren 10thJuly pics

It's wonderful for rescues like Windwhistle Warren to see the lives of bunnies they have rescued being transformed. :)
Alice's Rescue re-homes around 100 rabbits a year. Here are just 2 of the many happy endings this month. :) .......

Maple and Teasel in the garden of their lovely new adopted home. :)

and news of another pair of adopted bunnies Albie and Sprite. :)

We have had another update today on another pair of well loved buns who have been through so much in their short lives. Albie and Sprite are running riot round their new home and eating really well, so obviously they are loving their new surroundings and have settled very well. Their new mum is stunned at how well Albie manages with his front paw missing and how he can still manage to get into mischief! So nice to hear they are doing so well so quickly.
