Alphabet Game

Take the next letter of the alphabet and give me a rabbit or guinea-pig related word beginning with that letter.

For bonus points, add a little fact or comment about or relating to your word! (For example, the word "carrot" might lead to how much carrot it is recommended a rabbit eats, or a medical term might need a little definition, or a plant might be poisonous or high in a nutrient...)

Play and learn at the same time!

I'll start with:

A for Apple

Apple pips contain small amounts of cyanide.

I is for Incisors

According to the website I just read, a rabbit's upper incisors grow approximately 2 mm per week which is slower than the lower incisors, which erupt at rates of 2.4 mm per week.

J is for Jumping

Rabbits usually only jump about 2ft vertically it is said, and officially the record is 3ft 3ins (see below) and can jump up to 9 foot in one leap horizontally.

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/wor ... y-a-rabbit
The world record for the highest rabbit jump is 99.5 cm (39.2 in) and was achieved by Mimrelunds Tösen (The Lassie of Quivering Grove) who was owned by Tine Hygom (Denmark) in Herning, Denmark on 28 June 1997. The rabbit was black and white and was a member of Aase Bjerner's rabbit club in Horsens, Denmark. No photos of the record event exist

...but I have seen a wildie jump up 4ft..and seen some high binkys from some of our pet rabbits too.
They can also touch their powerful back legs on an upright fence as they jump to act as a springboard to go even higher too .

(I would recommend a fence of at least 4ft in a garden anyway! )
