We are now opening up this thread for entries for the September Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month.
All our Rescues are welcome to enter, even if you have won before. Your entry must include the animal/s story and at least 1 photo (but more is good ), you have until midnight on 31st August to get your entries in here. Entries can only be accepted from the Rescues/Sanctuaries that Pledge a Pound supports, and must be placed as a reply to this thread.
Only one entry per Rescue please.
Your entry can be a single rabbit or guinea pig, or it can be a pair or group that live together.
The winner will be chosen by the Pledge a Pound Team at the beginning of September
The winner will receive a prize of items to be sent to the Rescue such as Panacur, Fibreplex, critical care, etc and similar things that all rabbit/guinea pig Rescues use/need. The prize for September is the items in the photo PXL_20220901_172104735.PORTRAIT by Sue Gibson, on Flickr
We’d like to enter Shamrock. He is one of a total of 20 rabbits currently in our care that were rescue from T&S rabbit farms.
Despite many of them having, mites, ear infections, abscessed bite wounds & dental issues they are, such kind lovely rabbits. Shamrock in particular adores a fuss & readily takes his medication without being held, he is always happy to see us despite only having known neglect & cruelty prior to arriving with us.

We would like to enter Grace and Ocean. These two rabbits came to us from the recently closed down T & S Rabbit meat & fur farm. They will now be safe here and will soon be seeing our vet.
Beloved Rabbits would like to nominate Angel and her kits for rescue rabbit of the month. This was the most difficult case we have seen in a long time and the details are quite distressing. I have shared the content from our social media post below.
We had been contacted by a few people to help some rabbits who were being advertised on numerous different selling websites as they had concerns about their welfare and the environment they were in. The owner had also emailed us asking for help with the female, male and their babies.
We organised space for them as soon as we could and one of our volunteers picked them up last Wednesday. The living conditions were beyond anything we had seen in a long time, with deceased rabbits left laying around the enclosure and some in bin bags next to the enclosure. It was a horrifying sight to see but we had to focus on getting these rabbits out and into the safety of the rescue.
Mum, dad and 8 babies were all transported to the rescue safely. Dad, now named Halo, was in the best condition of them all. The babies (who were from multiple litters) we estimated to be between 3-6 weeks old and appeared extremely skittish and scared.
Mum was unfortunately in the worst condition. She was incredibly frail and emaciated and had an open wound which was infested with maggots. The photos below are of the state she was in. Unfortunately, after checking her over, she was on her way to the vet when she fitted in the car and passed away. We have named this poor soul Angel.
We are now left caring for an orphaned litter of 8 babies. There are a couple of the babies who are on the smaller side, one being incredibly small and thin. They have been moved to one of our foster carers who has already seen a change in the weaker ones, and we are hoping with continued care all 8 survive and live long and happy lives away from the horrible living conditions they were in.
This case has taken a real toll on our volunteers and we all wish we could have saved Angel before it was too late, but it's a small comfort that she got to see her babies safe with us before she passed. Rest in peace beautiful girl.
The PaP Team have now chosen the winner of the Rescue Rabbit of the month for September and it's Angel from Beloved Rabbits. Her prize will go to the Rescue in her memory
