Post by Foofy »

As we have now announced the winner of the Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the month for April, Sugar from Marias Animal Shelter, see her story by clicking on the link below,

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8041

We are now opening up this thread for entries for the May Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month.

All our Rescues are welcome to enter, even if you have won before. Your entry must include the animal/s story and at least 1 photo (but more is good ;) ), you have until midnight on 30th April to get your entries in here. Entries can only be accepted from the Rescues/Sanctuaries that Pledge a Pound supports, and must be placed as a reply to this thread.

Only one entry per Rescue please.

Your entry can be a single rabbit or guinea pig, or it can be a pair or group that live together.

The winner will be chosen by the Pledge a Pound Team at the beginning of May.

The winner will receive a prize of items to be sent to the Rescue such as Panacur, Fibreplex, critical care, etc and similar things that all rabbit/guinea pig Rescues use/need. The prize for May will be 2 sachets of recovery food, 1 tube of Panacur, 1 tube of ReguTum paste, a bag of Burgess Herby Hearts and a packet of Russell Rabbit Crunchers.

Baby Blue Bee Bunnies would like to enter Babe.

Babe's story is a heart wrenching one, so prepare your tissues. 💔

Babe was living out in a hutch for 6 years alone, never having been neutered. When the person gave Babe up, they said that Babes friend had died over 5 years ago and that they had no company since. That the children had "tried with it" but "it was too nervous and it wasn't working".

When Babe was dropped off, we could barely believe the broken little body we saw sitting limp and underweight in the carrier. We took them out, there Babe was, in a state of complete learned helplessness. Spirit gone from their eyes. The tears rolled down our face as we looked at the crusty face, crusty paws, cuts, urine scald, and every toe broken and dislocated. As we felt Babes feet, Babe lay limp not even fighting back. Babe was unable to hop around and had arthritis known as 'hutch lock' where the bones had fused and caused arthritis due to cramped conditions.

Over the last few weeks, we have been helping Babe to gain strength and weight, to hop, to try and eat hay, to engage with their environment. Their face is now cleaner, their body clean and been neutered. Their journey now brighter already. This quiet soul needs lots of TLC and lots of support. Something they will get here in abundance. 🐇🤗

Windwhistle would like to introduce Juliet, this beautiful BEW was dumped with 14 other buns outside a shop in Kent. She was very thin and bald in places. Within 2 weeks of being with us she has gave birth to 4 dead babies and is only a baby herself. This is a picture of when she 1st came into us. She has now put on a bit of weight and a right character. With those blue eyes, you can't help but fall in love with her. Once she has put a bit more weight on, we will be able to get her neutered and find her a forever home.

Rabbit Residence Rescue would like to nominate Pixel who was from the same rescue as Juliet. Poor Pixel had several wounds & an abscess which required treatment as well as fur loss. She weighed just over 1kg & was painfully thin :(
She’s a cheeky bun who loves to play

The Pledge a Pound Team have now chosen the winner of the Rescue Rabbit of the Month for May and it's Juliet from Windwhistle Warren. It was such a very hard decision this month.
