All our Rescues are welcome to enter, even if you have won before. Your entry must include the animal/s story and at least 1 photo (but more is good ;) ), you have until midnight on 31st December to get your entries in here. Entries can only be accepted from the Rescues/Sanctuaries that Pledge a Pound supports, and must be placed as a reply to this thread.

Only one entry per Rescue please.

Your entry can be a single rabbit or guinea pig, or it can be a pair or group that live together.

The winner will be chosen by the Pledge a Pound Team at the beginning of January.

The winner will receive a prize of items to be sent to the Rescue such as Panacur, Fibreplex, critical care, etc and similar things that all rabbit/guinea pig Rescues use/need. The prize for January is 1 tube if Panacur, 1 tube of Fibreplex and 1 sachet of Recovery Food.

Well done, Zambia!

We’d like to nominate our family of lops, Watkins, Zef, America & Yolandi.

Originally picked up as strays in a park these four had obviously been much loved pets as they were all neutered & given that they arrived with myxomatosis which they recovered from were probably vaccinated too.

They also had coccidiosis upon arrival so really haven’t had much luck :(

I would like to nominate Lucky. He only arrived today at RSPCA Walsall so don't know much about him as yet, but he's a speciallittle guy.

When an inspector calls the day after Christmas you know it's not just to wish you a Happy Christmas. Meet our latest arrival, abandoned with his brand new cage, food and hay, next to a rubbish bin by a main road. But it gets worse our little bunny wasn't in the cage but running free. Thankfully a very kind dog walker spent the morning trying to catch him.

Bunny is now safe with us, he is only a baby no more than 8-12 weeks old. We have called him Lucky!!.

Elwood came from a situation where there were a lot of rabbits. He has a deformed front leg/paw. We have taken him to the vets and been assured that he is not in any pain with his leg, and, from time to time, he tends to use it like a little crutch. We do not know if he was born like this, or if it is an unhealed, old injury. He is a cheeky chappie and likes to 'rearrange' his living space. The saying of 'he has just been cleaned out, honestly' has become very popular with the volunteers as he likes a messy living space.

This month Beloved Rabbits would like to nominate Jumanji, a sweet boy who entered the rescue a couple of weeks ago. His previous owner made us aware of regular dental issues, however when he arrived he was critically unwell and we arranged a vet check as soon as possible. The vet confirmed that his teeth still needed a lot of attention and the damage was severe, with severe ulcers on his tongue affecting his ability to eat normally. Thankfully, he underwent a successful surgery and is at his foster home recovering well. His foster carer has already reported an improvement in his eating, although he will need occasional dentals for the rest of his life to keep his teeth in order. We're confident that once he's back to full health we can find the perfect home for this gorgeous boy!

THIS ENTRY IS ON BEHALF OF MARIAS ANIMAL SHELTER - apologies for my lateness in entering

Can I enter Peaches for animal of the month of Jan please. Peaches has recently come in. Her previous family did tell us that Peaches does shake, and has been that way for many months. We noticed straight away, that as well as shaking, her teeth were chattering due to pain. We took her to the vets. Tests were done that revealed nothing. We tried a course of antibiotics incase of a small ear based abscess but the shaking and teeth chattering continued. Peaches was returned to the vet. This time the vet advised us that the pain seemed to stem around her neck area, which can indicate a trapped nerve. Maybe she was dropped earlier in her life. In Cornwall there is nowhere, that can do an MRI scan, so we have to keep her on a few different pain meds for the rest of her life. We are hoping once the pain subsides she will increase in weight as well.
