We are now opening up this thread for entries for the December Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month.

All our Rescues are welcome to enter, even if you have won before. Your entry must include the animal/s story and at least 1 photo (but more is good ), you have until midnight on 30th November to get your entries in here. Entries can only be accepted from the Rescues/Sanctuaries that Pledge a Pound supports, and must be placed as a reply to this thread.

Only one entry per Rescue please.

Your entry can be a single rabbit or guinea pig, or it can be a pair or group that live together.

The winner will be chosen by the Pledge a Pound Team at the beginning of December.

The winner will receive a prize of items to be sent to the Rescue such as Panacur, Fibreplex, critical care, etc and similar things that all rabbit/guinea pig Rescues use/need. The prize for December is 1 tube if Panacur, 1 tube of Fibreplex and 1 sachet of Recovery Food.

We would like to enter Daisy please.
Daisy is 2.5 years old. We've been treated her eyes with eyedropper for about 2 months due to covid but her eyes got worse over weekend and eventually it was agreed surgery needed to be done. Operation took 90 minutes to complete. Her right eye was done twice as vet felt didnt take enough away first time. Daisy had double entropian where eyelids were turing in and rubbing against the eyes causing ulcers and damage to the eye itself. She will be on metacam and eyes drops for 3 weeks. Daisy is now slowly recovering. Daisy lives with her sister, by the time they were 6 months old they had already had 4 different homes they have been given permanent sanctuary at the Rescue.

This month Beloved Rabbits would like to nominate Churchill - this lovely old man entered the rescue a week ago when his family moved house but sadly were unable to take him with them. At 10 years old it's not surprising that we were immediately able to identify some potential health issues, but more concerning is the fact that he has lost weight already in the short time he's been with us. We booked him in for a vet health check asap, and the vet has advised that he needs a dental but needs to put on weight first rather than losing it like he has, and prescribed metacam and assisted feeding. This seems to have gone down well with Churchill who took a full syringe from one of our volunteers right away! He also has a lump on his side which we are currently monitoring with another vet check next week to assess his progress. Despite this, he's in great spirits and has a lovely wee nature, so we are hopeful that he can make a full recovery and we can match him up to one of our adopters to live out his senior years in a loving home.

He was highlighted to us as was being advertised as free on a selling site.
Concern was raised as this was the pic used to advertise him

Who advertises a pet with a pic that hides their face?
Well I collected him and lo and behold he had runny eyes and front teeth growing in all directions
He was un neutered and very fruity trying to hump my arm, his bowl and even a pile of hay!
We have had him neutered and his front teeth and back molars burred but he will need more treatment in future so his rehoming chances are low
I am gettign quite attached to this little chap as when he isn't trying to mount things or run around grunting with his tail in the air ,he loves a good nose and head massage
