Re: Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month August 2020
Binky Buns would like to nominate our Steve for PaP's Bun of the Month for August 2020.
Steve came to us as a surrender after living his life, primarily in a hutch, alongside his brother. Steve's owners were unable to give him the necessary quality of life so brought him to us.
Steve is an elderbun (7 years plus) who has some unique health issues. He has an abnormality in his private area so he requires regular butt baths and medication. We're working hard, alongside our rabbit savvy vet, to work out how we can best manage his condition. Steve is also a bigger bun in himself but came to us incredibly overweight. Through regular free range exercise, he has lost some weight and likes nothing more than to run around and binky, whilst helping out with gardening chores. Steve is also best friends with Eppie the cat and they regularly spend time together. Steve is a sanctuary bun who will live with one of our trustees.
We love you Steve <3 x

Re: Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month August 2020
Bunny Burrows would like to nominate Ying and Yang. Ying and Yang arrived just days old on the 21st of March. They had been abandoned at a vets after being injured by their parents.
Ying and Yang were bottle fed by Gwen and had their wounds cleaned on a daily basis. However it soon became apparent that Ying’s back leg wasn’t functioning the way it should. Our vet soon confirmed that the leg would have to be removed once she was big enough to survive the surgery.
This week Ying had surgery to remove her leg. Yang went with her to keep her company and get spayed. They both bounced back from their surgery as if nothing had ever happened. They will remain in the care of Bunny Burrows for the remainder of their lives.

Re: Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month August 2020
Last week Beloved Rabbits took in the beautiful Lumi who has recently given birth to some lovely little kits. One year old Lumi came to us with her babies as unfortunately her owner was unable to provide the level of care required for the unplanned litter, and we're sure this is a common issue for all rescues - we definitely get a high number of litters in each year. While we love to see babies, it's really hard on the mummy bunny, and we are keeping an eye on her incase she's pregnant again (the dad wasn't taken away from the mum until the previous owners contacted us to surrender). Lumi and her babies are now settling nicely in their foster home for ongoing care while mum recovers and the babies grow and get stronger. Lumi has been a fab mum and is a really loving rabbit, having very quickly built a bond with her foster carers - very impressive given all she's been through.

Re: Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month August 2020
This is the beautiful Alfred, a german lop who have already stolen the hearts of many of us at Windwhistle including me!
He was at a vets for 6 weeks after suffering fly strike before he came to us, and we believe he is in the region of 6 years old.
His tear ducts were very infected, and filled with pus and, he has terrible teeth. Also, he has very painful severe arthritis. He is going to need lots of TLC and vet treatment. He is like a teddy bear and loves being cuddled.
We are at the beginning of a long journey for Alfred, but we will be there every step of the way, as he is a fighter. The 2nd picture is of him at the vets and the 1st is him with us at windwhistle.
