THIS ENTRY IS ON BEHALF OF MARIAS ANIMAL SHELTER

Ruby is an English Lop. It was so upsetting to meet Ruby. Every time she walked, she would step on her ears, which would yank down her head. She would try to binky but could not. Both ears were ripped and torn and 1 was nearly in half. After a good discussion with the vet it was decided to remove both ears to improve the quality of life. It was the best decision ever. Within a week she was running and binkying. Ruby would not of been able to go outside much due to the risk of infection because her ears would drag and bleed. She absolutely loves to be out in the open to run and binky. We now need to find her an amazing home to go with an amazing rabbit. You can see a short video of Ruby on our fb page.

I would like to nominate Mars, he is now our longest stay bunny.
Mars is an adorable 14 month old (June 2020) male bunny, who arrived in RSPCA care after being rescued from a property with 22 other bunnies, where breeding had gotten out of control and he wasnt being cared for. Mars was in horrendous condition when he first arrived in our care, he was so matted, he could hardly move. He had spent the first 5 months of his life living in a tiny indoor cage with his mom, dad and siblings. Suprisingly Mars is a friendly, inquisitive bunny who will sit at the front of his hutch to see what is going on. Mars loves being indoors he will happily binky around, and is very nosey.

Mars does tolerate being handled which is great as Mars will need daily handling in order to be groomed. Mars is very long haired and his fur feels like cotton wool, he will require alot of grooming, to prevent the matts returning. We have now clipped Mars fur for the Summer to prevent him overheating.

Sorry I can't list photos on here.

I’d like to nominate Winter from Rabbit Residence Rescue. He’s a lovely natured New Zealand white apparently originally found as a stray, he was kept in a 5ft hutch that was rarely cleaned as his owners ‘couldn’t handle’ him. He’s very underweight and came to us severely matted. https://m.facebook.com/rabbitresidence/ ... &source=49

We welcomed Nespresso into the rescue after her previous owner threatened to release her to the wild, citing that they were struggling to meet her care needs. When we collected her, it was clear she had sadly she had been spending most of her time cooped up in a tiny hutch and she was underweight with a weepy eye. An initial inspection of her teeth led us to suspect dental issues may be the cause, and we knew a vet check was needed as a matter of priority.

Thankfully upon assessment, her teeth were found to be fine and she was given a tear duct flush and some antibiotics with a follow up flush recommended in a week. She is now being given lots of TLC by her foster carer and settling in nicely. We will look to place her in a forever family once she's back to full health.
