THIS ENTRY IS ON BEHALF OF MARIAS ANIMAL SHELTER

We would like to enter Rupert. Rupert has been with us for 3 yrs. His owners no longer wanted him, thank goodness. Poor Rupert was living in a shed. Not given grass or hay but just fed museli. When he came in he had an eye infection that had not been treated and major teeth issues. Most of his teeth either fell out or were pulled out. We have had Rupert for 3 yrs and he is one of the sweetest rabbits with humans as well as other rabbits. Because he has hardly any teeth we have to grate up food for him to eat. He actually knows the sound of the grater. The vet informed us last week that he will now have to have dental ops every 4-6 weeks for the remainder of his time with us. Poor little man.

Anghared was one of 34 rabbits from the same breeder/hoarder. She arrived here with 4 kittens, and, we are just hoping she is not pregnant again. She is missng part of her ear and as a result of e cunniculli she has serious and painful eye complications. She is blind, and, we are not sure if much can be done for her, apart from give her a loving and comfortable life.

La Forge arrived with her bonded partner Deanna Trio, and this beautiful girl is blind due to two separate eye conditions. The first is something we sadly see too often - a cataract in one eye as a result of E Cuniculi. The second condition is more unusual - she has a micro eye which she would have been born with. This unfortunate run of luck means she needs special care - there's no treatment required for either condition at the moment, but she needs monitoring to ensure no issues develop. She's lucky to have a bonded companion who gives her comfort and reassurance. She has a calm, if slightly nervous nature but we're sure the right home is out there for her. Entry is for Beloved Rabbits.

Baby Blue Bee Bunnies entry for June is this lovely girl Bute.
Bute was 1 of 3 sisters who were rescued from being dumped in a field. Understandably the girls were really shy after this awful experience however with love and care little Bute really came round.
The lovely girl went out on a long term companion foster with her sister however a few months in and her foster mum contacted the rescue to say she was in The Royal (Dick) Vet school with stasis, this however turned out to be the most complicated situation they had seen. Poor wee Bute who is a very small slim bunny had 7 growths, growing fast and starting to compromise her internal organs. Our amazing vet partner team at RDV undertook a surgery of over 6 hours, the growths had adhered to vital organs and arteries, however their enormous skill and care meant that the surgery could be completed. It was touch and go for the next few days with 24/7 care from our vet team, to help Bute's liver and kidneys recover sufficiently, as well as recover from the trauma of surgery, but shes now home at the rescue and doing well. This is only the 2nd time in the world that this condition has been documented and Bute's surgery will also further exotic rabbit medicine for bunnies in the future, as the vet team plan to undertake pathology studies etc to understand more. So as well as being an amazing little bunny through so much in her short life she is making a difference for other bunnies in the future.
Once fully recovered we plan to find just the perfect home for little Bute, she will need ongoing monitoring for at least the next 6 mnths in case this condition come back, but we are just adore this little fighter.
