Entry on behalf of Baby Blue Bee Bunnies, moved from Novembers thread as posted in error on wrong month.

Baby Blue Bee Bunnies would like to nominate Brodie.
Brodie has had a very tough time of it and was surrendered to his vets in very poor health before coming to the rescue.
He will require ongoing treatment for the rest of his life however is such a sweet boy and has overcame enormous challenges.
In addition to the issues with his tear ducts and the infection that got out of control, he previously had a leg break that didn't receive vet care.
Despite all of this he is a fighter and a lovely natured bun. As you can see he is coming on leaps and bounds.

Windwhistle would like to introduce Ludwig, a German lop. He recently came into our care, as when Ludwig’s young owner moved out of his fathers home, he left his rabbit. His father had absolutely no idea how to cope. Luckily, his sister rang us and she arranged for Ludwig to come here. He has severe mites, and must have been very distressed for along time. He was so depressed, with such sad eyes when he came in. He has started to pick up, as loves head rubs, playing with his toys and a cuddle. Unfortunately the mites are not improving even after treatment, and he has a nasty scabs from itching and a very 'scaly' skin, it looks like Psoriaisis. Luckily when it has cleared up and he is well enough to be neutered, he has been offered a loving home, so eventually he will get a happy ending.

We were contacted to ask if we had space for a single female who could no longer be kept at home because of landlord conditions. After explaining we had a hefty waiting list already but could add the rabbit to it the man declared he had already had our help rehoming 2 bunnies earlier in the year. Next, he advised, “just to let you know”, that the rabbit had managed to escape her enclosure approximately a month ago and appeared to have been attacked by a cat or something and had a damaged foot which was “absolutely fine now”. This immediately gave us concern as she had never been taken to a vet! Later that evening the owner was already waiting for us at the door.

Maya arrived in a crisp box, with no bedding or any attempt to make her feel comfortable for the trip to the rescue. Maya was severely malnourished. We use body condition scoring techniques to assess a rabbit’s condition, but it wasn’t necessary in this case – a basic visual check on seeing Maya and it was obvious that she had been casually starved.

Her foot was redraw, with a large scabbed wound where one of her toes should have been. There was some indication of infection and several other scabbed areas. It was obvious that the foot had not really received any attention at all, and Maya had essentially been left to tend to her own injuries for goodness knows how long.

Maya was placed with an indoor foster carer so she could be monitored closely and is making a fantastic recovery now and enjoying all types of food and filling out nicely. She still has a way to go before she can be neutered let alone rehomed but she is very brave with lots of love to give ❤

We would like to nominate our big boy and girl Fritz and Gigi

Fritz is a Continental Giant rabbit who came to Bunny Burrows on Wednesday 16th September 2015. He was only 20 weeks old and already a big boy! He came from Leeds from an owner who parted with him because he didn’t get on with her daughter.

Fritz is such a character and thinks he is a dog – the minute he arrived he made himself at home. When he grows into those HUGE big ears, he will be rather large but extremely friendly. He is an Agouti boy, the same colouring as a wild rabbit but most definitely not wild – a gentle giant is our Fritz!

Gigi is a grey French Lop Eared female who arrived at Bunny Burrows 23rd October 2015. She is only 6 months old but another big Bonnie Bunny! Within hours of arriving here at Bunny Burrows, she had set up home with Fritz – they clearly adore each other making the ideal couple.

Gigi was unwanted as she didn’t get on the original owner’s dogs – we found that she got on well with Hetty, the late Bunny Burrows pooch!

They enjoy going out in the garden in the summer and when they are ready to come in they chew and scratch at the back door!
