Re: Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month September 2019
Poppy is an adorable 5 year old female. There is a bit of confusion as to why she came in. One person called to say they had an emergency situation because all of the rabbit houses had collapsed and they had nowhere to put them. When asked her many did they have, their response was a staggering 17. We managed to take 12 of them and said we could take in the rest in a few weeks. They filled out all the forms but put, reason for giving them up was because the daughter was off to college, ok, that was a bit different to their initial reason. Suspicion grew when most of the rabbits came in, in various young ages, most of them babies. Some 3 weeks, 7 weeks, 1x 12 week old. I have my suspicions that they had been breeding them and probably could not sell any more. Dear Poppy is just so friendly. She went off to join a family of her own but unfortunately came back, due to the bonding not working. So now we have her back with us and i am hoping another lovely family will come forward to adopt her.

Re: Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month September 2019
Rupert was brought to Bunny Burrows after being kept on an allotment where he was fed solely on chicken pellets.
.
Because of this poor diet he came to us with severe dental disease which resulted in the removal of his front teeth.
.
After a short stay at one of our foster homes he came to live at the Burrow permanently where he spends his time in the colony with the other 9 rabbits and 18 guinea pigs who have health issues, but because he is so diddy he is often mistaken for a guinea pig!!

Ziggy is a 19 month old Netherland dwarf lop. She was advertised ‘free’ to a good home. Obviously in danger, one of our Windwhistle volunteers drove to Reading to collect her from someone who had taken her in. Unfortunately, She has had head tilt since she was born and her previous owner thought it was ‘a birth defect’. Ziggy is currently being nursed in a foster home, being treated for EC, with access to a specialist rabbit vet.
