Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month June 2018

Post by Foofy »

As we have now announced the winner of the Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the month for May - Cherry from Marias Animal Shelter
see her story and photo here http://www.pledgeapound.net/forum/viewt ... f=4&t=6831

we are now opening up this thread for entries for the June Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month.

All our Rescues are welcome to enter, even if you have won before. Your entry must include the animal/s story and at least 1 photo (but more is good), you have until midnight on 31st May to get your entries in here. Entries can only be accepted from the Rescues/Sanctuaries that Pledge a Pound supports, and must be placed as a reply to this thread.

Only one entry per Rescue please.

Your entry can be a single rabbit or guinea pig, or it can be a pair or group that live together.

The winner will be chosen by the Pledge a Pound Team at the beginning of June.

The winner will receive a prize of items to be sent to the Rescue such as Panacur, Fibreplex, critical care, snugglesafes and similar things that all rabbit/guinea pig Rescues use/need. This months prize will be announced shortly.

If anyone needs help uploading photos to the forum please let me know.

We would like to enter Teddy. He was found being used in a farm shop as something to keep the kids entertained. The female and her babies died. They had bought them to breed with. When she died, Teddy was left on his own.
He was in an 18inch hutch with no bedding or hay. Just a crust of bread. Since coming to the Rescue he has been bonded with Molly (a tripod) who is also a permanent resident. Teddy has done wonderfully until recent health issues have come to light. Xrays showed horrific damage to Teddys skull either from dropping or being kicked. Broken jaw, skull damage and sinus damage. The sinuses are now causing him breathing issues. Currently on metacam, bee pollen, bisolvn, baytril and cream for sore on back caused by bite. Sadly his prognosis isn't good and we're struggling. He's losing weight. Discussions with vet reagarding steroids etc.

Aw poor Teddy :( At least he now has pain relief, and seems like a good boy to take his meds. Glad he has Molly for comfort.

This is Boudica who is now at Windwhistle Warren and will soon be looking for a home. She is 4 years old: her previous owner thought she had a "cold" in her eye and now that she is at WW and has seen a vet, it turns out she has herpes. :( Obviously, this is now being treated. She is a dear soul. :x

ImageTINNER by tabithakat64,
Tinner came to us earlier this year, found dumped in a cardboard box with 4 very young babies outside a pet shop, taken in by a kind member of the public who asked us for help when two of the 4 babies sadly suddenly passed away. It turns out Tinner rather than being mum is actually the babies dad! Thankfully the two remaining babies Nudge and Filo both survived as they were copying Tinners behaviour, he is a devoted parent and loves to groom and snuggle with his daughters.

THIS ENTRY IS ON BEHALF OF TAMESIDE RABBIT RESCUE

This is Kelly who was brought to the rescue with 8 other lion heads of mixed ages. The lady that originally brought them in came with two that she had taken from a family member, due to the conditions they were living in. The next day at tea time, she arrived unannounced with another 7 - some carried in her arms. All the girls had to be kept for pregnancy and health watch (luckily none were or had issues) and some are still awaiting homes. They are extremely fluffy and need a home that can care for this breed. However It was evident that Kelly had issues with her teeth most likely due to interbreeding . After several vet visits, the decision was made to remove all 4 front teeth. She is 2 week post surgery and after a lot of care and attention, is doing well. We hope that she continues to gain weight and in the future, be found a home who can understand her needs as a toothless rabbit. But in the mean time she will stay here with us at the rescue.

Kelly
