Rabbit to be Put to Sleep

Post by honeybunny »

This is something I cannot understand. We are taking in a rabbit later today who was taken to a vets to be put to sleep as owner no longer wanted him. :(
Lukcily vet refused as rabbit healthy and friendly. Vet said they would find a home for it. So we are taking him.
Why do people think its acceptable to just kill a pet they can no longer be bothered with?

Pics later in stories section once he is safely here

That is awful :(

Although I guess its marginally better than turning them loose, which I cannot get my head around.

Unfortunately i have asked people to take their rabbit to be put to sleep. The only reason i had to do this is because i cannot cope with all the demand that there is down here. Some people are not prepared to wait and you know they are going to turn them loose. Others, by what i can gather are suffering where they are. It's just so horrid. :(
