This is a story of one of the current fbrc bunnies :) written by her foster career Lhanna:)
She would like to be entered for bunny of the month !

I have fostered Snow and her partner Tianna on & off for the past two years - before a new home, and again when the new home fell apart. Snow was blind with mature cataracts in both eyes and partially deaf.

About a month after they had returned to me I went out to give them breakfast and found Snow’s right eye full of blood. We visited the vet, who prescribed eye drops, pain relief and antibiotics and booked us in with a specialist, advising we may need to remove her eye.

Over the weekend, I noticed Snow drastically improve - she began running around the shed when I opened the door - jumping onto hidey boxes and racing around the garden; all things she never used to be able to do.

On return to the specialist she became very excited. Not about the right eye - but the left.
She explained the blood in the right eye was a failed natural occurance of cataracts reabsorbing into the eye & lens - it had became infected and developed an ulcer.
However, the left eye had successfully passed this stage, and Snow had in fact began to regain her vision!
This is very rarely seen in dogs and unheard of in rabbits.

Amazing! Snow is basically a medical marvel, and is now getting her life back on track - by enjoying every bit of sunshine and rain she now can :)
( pics to follow as soon as I can get them up here ... :/ )

I'd like to enter Brindie and Flin!

Flin, the grey and white lionlop, has been with us since 2011 (born 2008) and has chronic dental problems so he and his wife, Brindie, are permanent residents. This week he's had his incisors removed which will hopefully help him but they do have a habit of growing back with this chap, hoping we got them properly this time! Due to his teeth problems he does tend to struggle to maintain weight.

Brindie is a lionhead and can be quite shy, she's otherwise a healthy girl who has been here since 2013. She can be shy enough to not eat when anyone is looking at her but is slowly getting bolder around more regular volunteers!

This pair are available to sponsor :)

Rescue rabbit of the month(graphic post-op pic of Sweetpea

Post by Furry_Friends »

Thanks for choosing Thimble :)

Am I allowed to enter again? I will enter Sweetpea, and if its not allowed, it would be nice to share her anyway :)

Sweetpea is an approx 5 year old rabbit handed into rescue.
She had a nasty abscess on her side that had developed over a long period of time and the owner could not afford the vet fees, so she made the decision to hand her into rescue so that she could be treated.
We decided that Sweetpea's treatment could not wait and when the vet saw the problem, he was very unsure that he could help her as the lump was so large and possibly invading her chest cavity.
We only put animals to sleep as a last resort and if they are suffering with no alternative, so of course we asked that the vet at least try and save her life.

After a very worrying day, we got the call that Sweetpea had come through the operation.
When operating, the vet discovered that the abscess was actually a large amount of abscesses that had seeded from the original one. He had to scrape it off of her rib cage, but luckily, even though it was an extremely delicate operation, particularly when it came to removing the lump safely without perforating her diaphragm which would have caused her death, he managed to remove the whole lot as one large lump.

Once healed she will have to go back to be spayed/vaccinated, but one step at a time and she will need to recover from this first!

There are some graphic photos of her on our facebook page, but I warn you, they aren't pretty!

She is now doing well and we hope she continues to do so :)

We would like to put forward this pair of young brothers, Miracle and Mirage :)
They were handed in along with their mum and sister..and Dad.
Owners insisted the mum and dad had never been together " even for a minute". They had bought them as young babies and thought the arrival of babies was miraculous! :-o
Hence dad we named Trickie-Dickie, Mum Virginia and babies Miracle, Mirage and Mystery :))

Mystery being a pretty lilac colour homed quickly, but these boys get overlooked as both are black :(

Image

We've had so many people asking about pairs of young rabbits but as soon as they see the pics of these they say they would prefer " pretty ones"
They are lovely boys, not too large and lively as young buns should be.
So we'd like to enter them for this and find them a home too!

Thank you for entering Miracle & Mirage Honeybunnies :) what handsome bunnies :x I can never understand why people don't like the colour black in animals, personally I really like it, a shiny black coat looks lovely :)
