Dear Fritz entered the shelter in a bit of a state.
He had been used as a stud rabbit for 3 years and had been confined to a breeders cage.
The day he came into the shelter he just sat there not moving. His eyes were weeping and he had cheyletiella mites.
We took him to be neutered and he had an xray, which showed that due to his squashed face, part of it is touching his tear ducts, causing his eyes to weep. This problem will be with him for life.
Emotionally Fritz was not good. Although his house door was always open Fritz would just sit and not move around. After a few weeks i started to carry him to the wall furthest away from his house and place him on the floor. He would just run straight back in his house. I repeated this every day until 2 weeks on it suddenly dawned on him that freedom was good. Now he follows us around like a dog and will even nip us if we do not give him any attention. What a turn around. :)

please may i add the gorgeous CARROT to Novembers Rescue bun , she arrived in August Very skinny and balding in places and no mane even though she was meant to be a lion head , My vet gave me 10 days to turn her round before he started x-rays blood tests etc to find out why. in 7 days i took her back and he said if he hadn't known me he would of said id taken another rabbit in \:D/ it was as i suspected her rather fat sister clover was stopping her from eating and attacking her all through sheer hunger , she is now fully recovered and waiting for her happy ever after , attached ( i hope ) are before and after pics of her xxx

can i also put forward the gorgeous handsome ROCCO , he arrived a few weeks ago very very sad . very skinny almost 1.5kg below his ideal weight he arrived with two brothers who ive now got but rocco stayed with me while the other 2 went to another rescue who then asked if id take them because of their weight issues , this is pure neglect and food was a big issue ie they never had any , :ymdevil: all 3 have now come on leaps and bounds and all enjoying life , Rocco has deeper set issues and is a lot more timid and shy than his two counterparts who are always into mischief :))

Mindy was returned to us in September after having been out in a home for several years. She was originally part of our largest hoarder case where we took in over 50 rabbits, including Mindy with a litter of babies, she was also pregnant and gave birth to a second letter (one of whom was Mimi, who is still at the rescue).
When she was returned she had very overgrown claws, was urine stained and had also been suffering from snuffles for a number of years which had remained untreated.

I would like to enter Pip who came to us in a bad way. His previous owner was feeding him Wagg and carrots, which has caused dental problems. His teeth are awful, and he had a few matts on him. He also smelt really bad and his nails were terribly overgrown. He is a sweet, but shy boy at the moment, but we are hopeful he will do well after a much needed dental and diet change.

Thank you to all the Rescues who have entered their Raqbbits for the Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month for December very nice to see quite a few entries :D :D

If any other Rescues would like to enter for December you have until midnight on 30th November to get your entries in. Entries must be as a reply to this thread on the forum only. ALL our Rescues can enter even if you have won before. All we need is the rabbit/s or guinea pig/s story and at least 1 photo (but more photos is good). Your entry can be a single rabbit or guinea pig or a pair or group that live together.

The winner will be decided by the Pledge a Pound Team at the beginning of December. The winner will win a £20.00 supermarket giftcard for the Rescue :)

We would like to enter Darwin the Guinea Pig into the Rescue Guinea Pig of the month for December.

Darwin is about 2 years old and has a sad story :( His original owners were going away on holiday so a friend of theirs was looking after him while they were away. Unfortunately the owners never came back from their holiday, as they went on holiday to Tunisia and were killed in the terrorist attack on the beach there :( then the lady who was looking after Darwin couldn't keep him any longer as she was being made homeless herself :( so he came to SRR. He is a lovely little boy and always squeaks for his dinner :) :)
