Flo a sad story with a happy ending warning: upsetting pics
Flo's story is the story of hope for all those working to make the lives of bunnies better.
Flo was approx a couple of month old when a young lady visited her local farmer to see if he would sell her some fresh milk.
He sold her the milk and also offered her fresh rabbit meat. She had a look at the bunnies and discovered Flo who even though she was more dead than alive and only weighed 851 gr the farmer wanted to sell her as rabbit meat.
He was disappointed when the young lady insisted on buying her alive.
The young lady immediately drove to the vet with Flo. Flo's journey to full recovery took 9 month.
Thanks to her vet and the persistence of the young lady the farmer is never allowed to have bunnies again in his entire live.
These pics were taken the day Flo was rescued.
Warning first couple of photos are upsetting!
The vet said Flow is the worst case of neglect she had ever seen.
Her ears were so infected by the mites that they were covered in puss making Flo deaf.
Her eyes were so infected that she was blind.
She had 5 broken ribs.
Her mouth was chronically infected.
She had chronic diarrhoea and she was severely underweight (she should have been 2kg and only weight 851gr)
The vet didn't think Flo would survive.
Nursing Flo back to health was a full time job for the next 9 month. Here are just a couple of pics documenting her road to recovery.
Flo proved to be a real fighter with an unbreakable will to live.
Here her little personality already starts to shine through
And this is Flo today after 9 month. The young lady who rescued her and initially intended to nurse her back to health and then re-home her...well she is now another member of the failed foster club.
And who could say no to such a cutie pie
Who would have thought Flo would turn out such a fluffster
Flo happy in love
Hope Flo's story will give hope and strength to everybody dedicating their lives to rescue bunnies.
Flo says thank you

What a sad story and what a difference. I am shocked and horrified by those first pictures.

The young lady and her boyfriend dedicated 9 month of their lives to nurse Flo back to health.
There were so many ups and downs and many times Flow was on death door, but she kept on fighting.
She is the most adorable and cuddliest bunny ever now.
I hope her story gives others strength and hope.

Oh bless her little paws, I am in tears - just look at that little face. Those first few pictures make me ashamed to be part of the human race. I hope that farmer was prosecuted. A huge huge well done to everyone who nursed and loved this gorgeous little bun back to health.

Same here Lynne, not sure how anyone could let an animal get in such a state and let it suffer, it does make you feel ashamed, but then when you hear of the good people that rescued it and nursed it back to health, does help restore your faith slightly.
The pictures are distressing but the last ones compensate for the bad ones, I hope she has the long and happy life she deserves, and well done to the people who rescued her, she's a credit to their love and care, she's a beautiful bunny

It didn't happen in this country. But I think a lot of thing happen on farms (also in the UK) that we are not aware of. Farming is not as romantic as people make it out to be.
It cost the young couple a lot of money to nurse her back to health but they say she is worth every penny.

What a heartwarming tale. I'm so glad Flo was saved and is now happy and healthy
I think you're probably right that there are a lot of rabbits out there in an equally bad state, but noone cares about them or bothers to get vet treatment because it's 'just a rabbit'

Oh my I'm so glad you put those last pictures up!
She's gorgeous now! Poor little one, she must have been in so much pain.

OMG. Those first few pictures made me feel sick.
Thank goodness for the dedication of Flo's rescuers.
A truely fortunate adorable little bunny.
Flo, you are wonderful.
