Feedback - My Vet would like your help!

Post by Honey61 »

As most of us are now aware, the single myxi jab is being withdrawn and will be replaced by the new combination Myxi/VHD.

My vet is very keen to glean any feedback from owners who have/are soon to have their buns vaccinated using the new combo vaccination.
Obviously he has access to the bumpf the manufacturers supply, but he would also like information from the receiving end as it were.
So knowing I am a bunny nut, he has asked me to enlist you all :D

So please if you could, post on here any information, whether it be any change in behaviour, reactions, anything at all really, it would be much appreciated :)

Had Max and Paddy done last week and they were both fine, no after or side effects, they were more upset at being checked by the vet ;)

ours will have the single vhd as already had the single myxi. To be honest I don't like the idea of putting 2 vaccines into one as I think it could potentially overload the immune system for some rabbits. I don't even like the way they do all-in -one vaccines for babies these days either.

I have to say I am not in avour of the combined really either. I've got 4 that are due for the boosters next month & I am hoping that they will get the single if the stocks are still available. Fortunately my vet knows how I feel & think he will have squirrelled some away for me ;)

Will we still be able to choose the single vaccines? or will they discontinue manufacture and owners be forced to have the mixed vaccine (or nothing)?
Will the new mixed myxi+vhd vaccine be more expensive than if having the vaccines singly?
Is the one mixed vaccine instead of the 2 myxi +vhd or just to replace myxi + vhd and we get a single myxi later in the year?- if so , then presumably owners could choose 2 single myxi vaccinations as before?
Will the vhd still be available separately either as the old vaccine or in its new form?

sorry so many questions.

My Herbie & Inca both got the single vaccine yesterday. So far they have been ok. I will report back again in a few days and let you know how they have been. Herbie was fussy with his veg last night but ate dandelions and grass.....I think he just wanted me to go out in the rain and pick them for him!
My heart has joined the thousand, for my friend stopped running today.
