Please think of Jessica.

I found Jessica, our 8 year old angora, very quiet this morning. A look showed she was bleeding from somewhere, it turned out to be the top of her back right foot. The skin is gone and bones are visible, she is at the vet awaiting surgery to see if there is enough skin to stitch back over, if not we will have to decide on either amputation or PTS.

She's out of surgery, the vet has tried to stitch the wound as best as she can, I don't think it fully covers the wound but at Jessica's age we would rather avoid amputation. The biggest worry in an infection setting in, I can collect her tonight with her collection of meds.
I think I've found out what happened, they are in an indoor run, wired with small hole chicken wire, it looks like there is a hole in the corner of one, hidden by the litter tray. It has grey hair attatchec to the wire, so I guess she caught it and tore the skin in the struggle- she also has 2 puncture marks on her front leg too.

Poor girl. Accidents happen so easily, even with well cared for rabbits. Sending recovery vibes for her. xx

Thank you, Jessica is still quite dopey but has eaten a bit if broccoli and had a long drink, no poohs yet though. He legs are pointing at odd angles, I guess because if the sedation and injuries.
I've left her to settle, with a snuggle pad and lights out- I will hopefully see a much brighter bunny tomorrow.
