This little lady piggy was handed into the rescue within hours of giving birth! as the family who had her didn't know what to do!! :-s
Unfortunetly 3 of the babies didn't make it so Caroline hand reared the remaining 2.
4 weeks on and mum (Julie) and babies are going strong :x

This entry is on behalf of Tameside Rescue

Tameside Rabbit and Guinea Pig would like to enter Penny.
This is little Penny and she lost the use of her back legs aged just 1 week old. She was fine one day and the next day unable to move them. She would drag them at the back her and had no strength in them for around a week. Penny continued to eat and enjoy mums milk. She has now had a lot of time and attention spent on her as she was unable to toilet herself properly and was constantly wet. This resulted in daily baths, also able to exercise her in the water and massages - shes now regaining the use of them. We hope that in time she will regain the movement correctly – however due to the unknown reason for her paralysis , we will be unable to rehome her and have decided to keep her and her mum together here at the rescue where we can continue to pay for vet care and give her the medical treatment she needs.

This entry is on behalf of Honeybunnies Rescue

Can we put Bran forward please? He was found having been dumped in a car park, was thin and scraggy on arrival and has stayed that way, we had him neutered and what had appeared to be an infected testicle was in fact part of his bladder.
He seems to have had a deformity as when opened up his bladder was through a gap in his abdominal wall. The gap was not a tear, he may have been born with it.
So clever vet Amy pulled the bladder back up into place and put a stitch to hold it there, then dealt with the gap. He took a while to recover but is now fit but as said still a bit thin and very food driven. He is lively and is looking for a VERY secure home! pics below

Entry on behalf of rabbit Residence rescue
Meet Tate he was being advertised on preloved for free along with his brother Lyle as his owners could not take care of them.
Usual story, tiny hutch, in appropriate diet with little hay.
Sadly the owner had taken Tate to her vet only to be told he needed to be fed separately from his brother but was otherwise healthy.
It was evident from the photos that Tate was very ill.
He weighed just 1kg, his healthy brother weighs two and a half times that :(
On examination he not only has an eye infection, as suspected he also has awful dental disease and tests showed that he has liver issues. Despite this he's a bright little fella who adores attention

:( Good luck to all the entries. I hope their health problems all improve.
It's a shame that a qualified vet was unable to realise that 1kg is a very low weight for an adult rabbit :( I have heard that vets only got 2 weeks training on rabbits?... I do hope that has improved today? Rabbits are the third most popular UK pets, so you would hope that the amount of vet training would take that into consideration.
