This month we have taken in 15 surrendered rabbits, have seen 10 hop off to new homes, and our waiting list has grown by 25 requests for a total of 42 rabbits.
Unfortunately our update this month isn't that positive as we continue to see the rabbit welfare crisis worsening - Angel, whose story we have shared on the rescue rabbit of the month thread, is an example of how bad the situation is getting. This case has devastated our volunteer team, and what makes it even more difficult to deal with is the knowledge that many more rabbits are out there in similar situations that we can't help due to the pressure on us for space. We've never been in a position where our waiting list is so full of people desperately in need of finding homes for rabbits in poor condition and on top of that we're struggling with a lack of foster spaces and increasingly high vet bills.
Despite this, our team are proactively working to combat this and create space in the rescue to help these wee souls, and we will continue to do so and help as many rabbits as we possibly can. We're also happy to share some photos of Angel's babies now they're in foster, who despite being orphaned are doing really well in foster care and getting lots of TLC.
