June was an exceptionally busy month for us at BBBB taking into account we were only open for 2 weeks.
We had 21 bunnies hop into the rescue, one being a welfare case of 10 remaining bunnies from a group dumped in a field at night.
We had 2 hop off to their forever homes
14 seperate enquiries and with our waiting list sitting at 56 we had to tell 5 urgent requests we couldn't help.
We had our first ever forage walk fundraiser which was a fantastic success and we look forward to another later in the season.
The rabbit crisis in the UK continues to grow, and campaigning for real legislative change is imperative. Legislation similar to that surrounding the sale of cats and dogs is required to make a dent in the numbers of bunnies finding themselves unwanted and homeless. While the likes of P@H etc churn out a never ending supply of baby bunnies we will not be able to stem the flow of surrender requests back into rescue. The current situation is unsustainable and we will continue to see fantastic rescues like Small Furries close under the pressure.
