Beloved Rabbits May Update

Post by fb_x »

This month we took in 29 surrenders and saw 11 bunnies hop off to new homes. We also had an additional 43 rehoming requests added to our waiting list.

Last month we mentioned a new initiative we were trialing, which we have named the Rehoming Assistance Programme. This is essentially a way for us to offer owners looking to surrender their rabbits to us another option to rehome them by advertising them for adoption while they initially remain in their owner's care. In order for the rabbit to be listed for adoption the owner must commit to bringing them to our premises for us to conduct a welfare assessment, which gives us an opportunity to get information about the rabbit to match them to a suitable adopter and also try to encourage the owner to do some of the routine treatments we believe are necessary.

When the rabbit is reserved for adoption we will arrange to transfer them into our foster care network and follow our standard process of ensuring vet health checks and routine treatment are all taken care off before we arrange their adoption. This allows us to bring rabbits into the rescue who have a guaranteed home to go to, and help out many rabbits and their owners who would previously have been stuck on a waiting list until we had an available space for them.

We're absolutely delighted that the programme appears to be working and we now have three Rehoming Assistance Programme rabbits who are reserved for adoption and have now entered our care that we may not otherwise have been able to help for weeks or potentially months! Full details of the RAP can be viewed on our website at https://belovedrabbits.org/rehoming-ass ... programme/

We're also pleased to have welcomed two new Adoptions Coordinators to the team to help with increased adoptions activity and an anticipated increase due to our Rehoming Assistance Programme.
