Baby Blue Bee Bunnies Feb & Mar 22 Update

Post by BabyBlueBeeBunniesLk »

Its been a very busy couple of months at the rescue.
In February we had 4 lovely bunnies hop off to their forever homes, which meant we had space for 4 more to come in and we added 20 to our list
In March we had 13 gorgeous bunnies hop off, with 4 coming in, and 17 added to our waiting list

Unfortunately we are definitely not immune to the crisis gripping rabbit rescues in the UK at the moment and we can see this with the number of inquiries we are receiving every month increasing. Like other rescues the health of bunnies coming in is also much worse, which not only puts pressure on our finances but also impedes our ability to bring in more bunnies as we have limited hospital space at the rescue.
This problem is unlikely to improve anytime soon as we see the cost of living crisis take hold and breeders & pet shops continuing as if there is no crisis.

I appreciate that this may be seen by some as a negative position however change take awareness, by pretending the crisis doesn't exist and focusing on the few positives we are adding to the myth that we can continue as we are. That's not the case with rescues closing their lists, the people behind the day to day hard work struggling, and resource very stretched, we need to recognise the enormity of what is facing rabbit rescues in the UK.

That's why it was great to be able to get back out on the road again in Feb & March, at Lanark Market, The Drill Hall & the vegan festival both raising much needed funds, but also to be able to educate and raise awareness of the issues.

We have also increased our volunteer team during this period, including our foster carers, and have devised a clear education strategy for the rest of the year. With Many of our team receiving Petplan award nominations in February.

We had a great day at the rescue getting ahead with maintenance as the weather was very nice.
Its lovely for our volunteers to be able to meet up face to face again too.

With everything that is going on your support is so important to us, and we thank you so much from the bottom of our heart for all of your donations and a huge thanks to the PaP for the work that you do.
