Rabbit Residence Rescue 2020

Post by tabithakat64 »

We’ve had a mixed start to 2020.

We’ve rehomed 12 rabbits so far and have a further 14 reserved including 5 rabbits we’ve had for longer than a year.

We sadly lost three of the younger rabbits rescued from a hoarding situation via the amazing One Bun at a Time ladies and also nine year old half wild rabbit, Harper partner to our Spanish bunny, Bonita.

We’ve taken in 6 rabbits in need but have sadly had to close our waiting list for non urgent cases due to lack of funds.

So far this year we have helped 36 rabbits in need and found 37 rabbits new homes.

We have 13 rabbits reserved and 68 rabbits currently in our care along with 4 long term boarders and 8 bonds booked in but it looks likely we will have to cancel these :(

Scary times for all rescues atm, no bunnies leaving and no rabbits coming in, no volunteers on site, no routine vet care, no boarding or bonding, we will struggle to survive as donations are down by two thirds this month.

We have received two grants one towards replacing isolation accommodation and our storage shed and one to help prepare new intakes for rehoming but may have to use these to cover general running costs which is heartbreaking

Thank you for your update. Well done for all those you have helped this year so far :) .It must be almost impossible to rehome these days with the transport restrictions on everyone, but hopefully things will start to improve soon.

We have been able to rehome a few of the rabbits that have been reserved and home checked prior to lockdown where adoptees live within 40 miles of us and we could observe social distancing, bringing the total number of rabbits rehomed this year up to 47.

Following the emergency intake of three bucks this weekend we have taken in 41 rabbits in need so far this year.

Funding is still a major concern for us in these strange and worrying times.
