Pledge a Pound Criteria

Post by Hunnybunny2007 »

1. All rescues must supply us with their vet details so we can verify they are known to them as a rescue

2. If you are a registered charity please supply your number

3.All rescues must be active and taking in new arrivals, unless full, but operating a waiting list.

4. Rescues must not breed any animals in their care - nor should they buy from breeders. We are aware that sometimes a rabbit is in danger and a fee is paid to ensure it's safety. However, we will not support rescues that buy from breeders just to acquire a certain breed.

5. All new rescues joining Pledge a Pound must vaccinate and neuter

6.All rescues must be active members of the pledge a pound forum or have a volunteer to represent them – the reason for this is to ensure that you are kept up to date with events or fundraisers we have planned, it also enables our supporters to be aware of the work you do. Not all of our supporters visit other forums or have Face Book accounts.

Only rescues that have given an update during the month will be entered into the month end draw
.

7. Rescues are required to have been operating for a minimum period of one year. This will be verified with your vets.

8. Rescues must supply us with the following information :
• Email address.
• Rescue address
• Telephone number
We do not hand share these details with anyone.

We had difficulty in contacting some of our rescues last year due to not having up to date details, this means you could miss out on being included in fundraisers.

9. The monthly winners will be announced on our forum around the last day of each month, the winning rescues will have 14 days to claim their donation, this is to be done by commenting on the thread to confirm you have seen you have been chosen, if we have no response the money will go back into the fund for next month. Once we have this acknowledgement from you, the donation will be paid direct to your vet. Rescues are requested to then post again on the thread to state they’ve received their donation.

10. Rescues are requested to inform us how many animals they currently have and how many have been re-homed in the last year.

11. Pledge a Pound prefers to support rescues, however, sanctuaries will be considered, but the team will have the final decision on who is to be included. We will continue to support the sanctuaries that are already part of Pledge a Pound.

12. All new rescues must have a minimum of 20 rabbits or guinea pigs in their care. We will not include rescues that care for mainly other species, with just one or two rabbits and guinea pigs.

13. New rescues will not be included if they have more than £25k in their bank account (Pledge a Pound was founded to help the smaller rescues).

14. If a rescue closes they will no longer be eligible to be part of pledge a pound.

The above is subject to change and The Pledge a Pound team has the final decision on who is eligible to be part of Pledge a Pound.

Whilst Pledge a Pound does want to promote animal welfare and recognises the need and importance of vaccinating and neutering all rabbits, we are aware that some of the rescues we support do not do this, (sometimes this is due to health reasons) the team have discussed this at length, and have decided to continue to support all the rescues and sanctuaries that have been with us since we started in 2010 when we had no criteria, it would be unfair to remove essential funding when they are already in financial distress.

If you are a rescue and would like to be considered to be part of pledge a pound please contact me via pm or email pledgeapound@hotmail.co.uk
