[Nibbles Rescue]

January and February update.

Sorry all for the late start to our updates, unfortunately my laptop screen snapped so I've been unable to get on here, but I have finally managed to retrieve all information off the old laptop and am now back

I'll start with our Jan update which unfortunately is a very quiet one, we had plenty of problems. Our staffing levels have been inconsistent due to many different issues which had instantly left us on the back foot of getting started with a new year,the weather has quite frankly been grim and everyone struggled with their mental and physical health but in the spirit of trying to be more positive this year, we made it through what can only be discribed as the longest month of the year

Feb has been much of the same but with the added issue of even more mud, we have had some larger than normal vet bills recently as we have had investigations into the health problems of a bonded pair we have at the rescue, we think we may have gotten to the bottom of it, historic lung damage that has lead to Pneumonia but I will update next month on any progress with treatments!

Let's hope for a much drier and sunnier march

March update, its all quite quiet with nibbles this past month, with the weather being considerably worse than expected for March we haven't been able to really get going on our usual spring clean of the rescue but it does look like the 2nd half of April will allow us to get these jobs ticked off hopefully!

In terms of the actual animals in the rescue, there is not much news, we have started bonding attempts with 2 rabbits in the rescue which will hopefully result in them both having suitable company, we don't usually bond rabbits before rehoming them but with them both having some health conditions it's definitely the right decision!

We have everything crossed that adoptions pick up this year but it's currently very quiet which is so demoralising for everyone

April update!

Spring is finally springing into action and so are we! We've been busy jet washing rabbit pens, clearing overgrown weeds and generally tidying up. It's not done yet but progress is being made and that's giving us all the motivation to keep going!

Unfortunately no rabbits have found their forever homes this month but we are not loosing faith that the purfect homes for the buns are just around the corner!

Funding is a constant battle at the moment but we are trying our best to ensure the rescue is able to run for many years to come.

May update!

The weather is on the up and up and we have finally got things getting their spring clean but with such a small team and so many jobs it's not going to be sorted super quick, at least it's getting done though!

We also have the utterly fantastic news that Taco has gone off on a trial to see if he's compatable with their resident bun, we are all absolutely delighted that he's had this chance and have every paw crossed that they will be bonded Taco was the longest stay bun at the time and has such an adorable but incredibly shy personality, hopefully he can truly come out of his shell with a wife bun at his side!

June update!


We have the amazing news that Taco hopped off to his forever home and we've even had confirmation that he is bonded this is amazing news especially as Taco has been with us at the rescue for such a long time, he arrived as part of an out of control breeding situation. We still have his 3 sons in the rescue too.

We have also managed to get loads of our "spring" jobs crossed off the list, it's a weight off our shoulders getting these jobs done as our window for good weather seems to shrink every year!

July update!

We are tentatively happy to announce that Ethelstead hopped off for his trail with a wife bun of his own, we have everything crossed for a easy bonding he had been in our care for over 2 years, having been handed in to us with Ethelred frona social services case. So we are super delighted that he has this chance to finally leave rescue!

In other news we have continued to work hard at getting repairs and deep cleans done, including repairing the living space for the trio of boys so they can have more open space.

August update!

It's been a long month with slow progress due to the school holidays, meaning we had some staff off but we have managed to swap over many pens to do some very important improvements to the pens. The biggest job was moving our trio of boys so we could completely rip out the rotten flooring and improve the layout of their pen.
The boys were very happy with the work done and are showing very relaxed bunny behaviour!

We have also gotten rid of all the hutches from inside the pens and replaced these with "kennels", this not only makes it considerably easier to keep everything hygienic but also gives the buns a lovely dark hidding spot if they need it!

Thank you to everyone for their support, we continue to try and improve the lives of every bun staying with us no matter for how long.

September update, we have welcomed 5 new furry faces to the rescue this month!

All 5 buns have come to us needing vet work, neutering, teeth and vaccinations mostly but also huge amounts of time from our team, especially with Tegan who is unfortunately quite underweight and needing extra care to get her back to full health.

All these buns couldn't be taken in without all our supporters, of which we are very grateful for!

October update, unfortunately it was a tough month for us at Nibbles, we lost 4 beautiful buns over the rainbow bridge and the emotional toll of that on all the team here at Nibbles will be felt for a long time.

It's never easy loosing one of the buns but we unfortunately had to have 2 of our poorly permanent residents put to sleep due to long term health problems, unfortunately as soon as Siobhan had returned from the vets she was back there again with Tegan who had drastically gone downhill since the morning.
Tegan had arrived with us in poor condition and despite several vet visits and trying everything possible to get her health back we just couldn't find the root cause of the health problems she was exhibiting. She unfortunately passed away the next day, we are just so glad that she got to enjoy being loved and cared for in her final few weeks

Then poor ginger passed away with her loving foster carers, ginger had been a sanctuary bun for many years and enjoyed showing just how sassy she could be!

All of this has left the team really deflated and upset but all the buns will live on in memory at Nibbles, sometimes in rescue its just one thing after another and October was just that for us but we continue to keep trying for all the other buns with us and those who need us.

Nov update!
With Christmas just around the corner and storms battering Nibbles it's been a reasonably quiet month, which quite frankly we are all grateful for. We do have some bits happening behind the scenes, mostly admin and research, in the hopes that the rescue will be in a stable financial position for years to come!

All the buns are tucked in cosy ready for the winter and we hope that 2025 will bring lots of adoption
