This is Bert.
He is a 2 year old Cocker Spaniel x Poodle looking for a home.
Originally he was seen in the local paper for sale as an older puppy by the previous owners. He stayed in that home up until recently.
His family needed to move him on and although many rescues were approached, they could not help and the family decided that they would have to have him put him to sleep.
Bert arrived into this rescue days before he was due to die because he was losing more and more confidence with the 8 year old child in the home.
He had growled and snapped at the child and it was decided that it was not safe for him to remain in the home.
Since being in rescue we have found no issues with him, so it would be safe to say that he stressed out because he was not confident with children in the home. Therefore we are looking for a home with teenage children or adult handlers only.
He does prefer a woman handler to a man and lives with other dogs really well (both males and females).
He loves his walks and enjoys off lead run although it would have to be in an area with no roads nearby as when he runs, he will explore quite far away from his handler - although he never lets you out of his sight.
Bert cannot live with cats as he chases them.
Bert is fully housetrained, not destructive when left and does not suffer separation anxiety meaning that he can be left for short periods of time on his own.
He has been castrated, fully vaccinated,microchipped, wormed and flea treated.
A homecheck will be required and there is a minimum adoption fee of £150.
