Rocky - disabled chinchilla

Post by Foofy »

Rocky is a neutered male chinchilla available for adoption to an experienced chinchilla person only due to his special needs. A homecheck and an adoption fee will apply.
Here's his description:- Rocky came here from another rescue and during his stay, managed to trap his leg in the cage bars. He promptly broke it while thrashing about to free himself. The vets could not save Rocky's leg and he is now a disabled chin.

His disability does not affect him outwardly although Chins are very good at hiding pain. He will need a long and low cage with narrow bar spacing or standard chinchilla mesh. He'll need extra padding on the floor using newspaper or fleece and may not be able to go through an introduction to another chinchilla.

Rocky is already neutered and we hope he can find a friend, but we will leave this to his new owner. Any prospective home must be prepared for him to live on his own and provide him with the time a space that a lone chin needs.

He will need regular monitoring by a vet to make sure he does not have any sores on his good foot or misalignment of the spine over time.

Rocky is a very friendly chin, but because of his special needs he cannot go to live with a beginner.

He is at Scritches Rat & Rodent Rescue near Southampton, Hampshire, if you can offer him a new home please either contact me or you can contact Kat at the rescue direct here are the links to her website and FB page:-
