Queenie
Approx DOB: 2005

Queenie is a Shih tzu who is looking for a home. She was picked up by the dog warden, after being found straying on a busy road. Covered in thick mats and partially sighted, it was a miracle that she wasn’t hit by a car. The mats were so severe that they were tugging on her skin and causing her a lot of discomfort - she had been like this for a long time. Although she was microchipped and several attempts were made to contact the owner, they didn’t claim her and so she came to us.

After being groomed, it was discovered that Queenie had two mammary tumours, so we had our vet remove these and also spay her, which couldn’t have come at a better time as the womb was covered in lumps too.

Queenie is a great little dog and everyone falls in love with her. She is good with other dogs when out on walks and could live as an only dog, or with a calm neutered male dog. She enjoys her walks, but isn’t a huge fan of the mud! Queenie is good in the car, and settles down quickly. She is brilliant with cats and could live with cats who are used to dogs, however she doesn’t like small caged animals. She is good with children, however, as she does enjoy sleeping in her twilight years, kids aged 10 and up would be ideal.

Being an older lady, Queenie needs frequent toilet breaks so can be left for a maximum of 4 hours. She is quiet when left, not destructive and will sleep until you get back. Being partially sighted doesn’t affect her too greatly, and it’s easy to forget that her vision isn’t perfect. She gets around easily and it doesn’t cause her any bother. She loves belly rubs and sitting on the sofa for a cuddle, but is equally happy sleeping in her bed or in another room. She is a really easy going, perfect little girl who someone is going to be really lucky to have.

Being a Shih tzu, she does need regular grooming and will need to visit the dog groomers every 6-8 weeks for a hair cut.

Queenie has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and flea treated. We ask for a minimum donation of £150 for her, and a homecheck will apply.
