Re: Marias Animal Shelter November 2022 update

Due to a staff member leaving us and still short of volunteers, we are not taking in many animals until after Christmas. Hopefully by then we will have managed to replace our employee and gained more volunteers.
Number of animals incoming for November was 7 and adoptions 15

Re: Marias Animal Shelter October 2022 update

Unfortunately we have no positive news but still trying to hang in there to stay afloat. There have been 28 incoming animals and 21 adoptions but we are so short of volunteers, it is a big struggle and very stressful to all of us to keep going. We have stopped any more people being added to the wait...

Re: Marias Animal Shelter September 2022 update

There are over 100 animals waiting to come in now. It is sad that we probably won't be able to help half of these. I have seen an increase in pregnant animals and with people with mental health issues. This month we had 7 come in and 12 adoptions.

Re: Marias Animal Shelter August 2022 update

Busy month as usual. There have been 29 new animals admitted but only 17 animals adopted. Adoptions have really slowed now so hoping that this will change soon. Thankfully the weather has broken and we have some rain, phew. :)

Re: Marias Animal Shelter JULY 2022 update

The guinea pigs are ok because we have aircon in the rooms but the rabbit adoption block can get extremely hot. We had cold, wet towels on the floo...

Re: Marias Animal Shelter june update

Last month we were working hard to get all the jobs done plus extras. There are so many windows to wash and doors to paint. Fundraising has started but we are struggling to get enough volunteers to assist us. Our lovely handyman made us a few raised beds, so fingers crossed we can grow some edible p...

Marias Animal Shelter May 2022 update

Last month carried on the same as in previous months. The number of calls doesn't seem to get any less. We are, however seeing a rise in the number of evictions and people with financial problems.
There was approximately 21 incoming animal and 16 adoptions.

Re: Rescue Rabbit/Guinea Pig of the Month April 2022

Thank you very much for choosing Sugar. Sugar had her ovarian cyst drained, which was what was causing the heat and hair loss along her sides. We have been feeding her up and she is booked to be spayed, so that should solve her cyst problem. At present, Sugar's mites have gone but there could possib...
